“The Salty Dog Crew”

In 2004, Scott Mueller joined our crew for our initial season in the United Midwest Promoters Super Late Model Division.

During this initial season, everything was definitely a learning curve.  We quickly found that Scott’s prior experience as a member of a UMP modified team was a major plus for us.  Also, Scott excels at finding the information he needs, either through personal contact with experts or research such as the internet or publications.
That first season, Scott was almost exclusively in charge of our tire program and he was determined to learn shock and pull-bar set-ups.
Also, during this period, we were a young team with many of the crew being teenaged boys.  While they were certainly willing, they needed constant supervision and instruction.  At times, the action in the pits can be as furious as the action on the track.  Often, as driver and crew chief, our attention had to be directed elsewhere.  Scott excelled in stepping in as mentor and teacher.  His maturity and knowledge helped develop these young men into the experienced crew that we have today.
